Little Compton began as Sakonnet, homeland of the Sakonnet people. English settlers renamed it in 1682, and it joined Rhode Island in the 1746-47 boundary settlement. The town developed the Rhode Island Red, the state's official bird, on farms around Adamsville. Little Compton remains a rural farming community today.
Stone walls divide the land into farms, woodland, and marsh. Fishing boats still leave daily from Sakonnet Point.
Downspout offers gutter cleaning, roof cleaning, and pressure washing throughout Little Compton. The town sits with water on three sides, so farms and homes set back on open land collect leaves and debris in their gutters at a high rate. Properties closer to Sakonnet Point and the shoreline deal with salt air and wind that wear on roofing and siding fast. Downspout clears and repairs gutter systems common to Little Compton's rural properties, and runs roof cleaning and pressure washing for homes fighting salt near the water.
