South Kingstown was settled in 1641. The Great Swamp Fight, the bloodiest battle of King Philip's War, happened here in 1675. The town's economy shifted from farming to textiles in the 1800s, centered on the Peace Dale Manufacturing Company. The University of Rhode Island, founded in 1892, anchors the town today.
Peace Dale and the neighboring village of Wakefield still preserve the mill housing and commercial buildings from that era.
Downspout offers gutter cleaning, gutter repair, and pressure washing across South Kingstown. Homes in Peace Dale and Wakefield often have gutter systems that went through several renovations since the mill era. These don't always match the roofline above them. Homes on the town's remaining farmland collect leaves and debris from tree cover at a higher rate too. Downspout cleans and repairs gutter systems across South Kingstown's mill villages and rural homes alike. We also pressure wash siding and masonry that's collected buildup from either era.
