Portsmouth is Rhode Island's second-oldest town, founded in 1638. Anne Hutchinson and other religious dissidents settled it after fleeing Massachusetts. American forces made their final stand here in 1778, during the Revolutionary War. The Portsmouth Friends Meetinghouse, built around 1699, still stands today.
Portsmouth sits on a peninsula with water on three sides. Narragansett Bay is to the west, and the Sakonnet River is to the east. Salt air reaches homes across most of town, not just the waterfront.
Downspout offers gutter cleaning, gutter repair, house washing, and pressure washing across Portsmouth. Homes from the colonial and early federal periods carry old gutter systems, fixed many times over. Older wood siding and trim pick up salt residue and mildew fast here. Downspout cleans and repairs the aging gutter systems common to Portsmouth's older homes. We also pressure wash and house wash siding that's exposed to coastal air.
